Whats up with your health policy?

After industry wide shutdowns across the country, due to COVID-19, we take public health very seriously. We work in close proximity to our clients, and compromising the health and safety of our customers and artists is not an option. For that reason, we utilize health screening and modified booking procedures, as well as medical grade PPE, to minimize the health risks associated with tattooing . Life is already stressful enough, so when you come to Black Candle Tattoo Co. we want you to rest assured that you’re being tattooed in a safe and healthy environment.

Due to the costs associated with health precautions at the studio, there is a $10 health and sterilization fee per appointment.

Do You Take Walk-Ins?

No. In order to give each client the personal service they deserve, we are a by-appointment-only studio.

Do tattoos hurt? what spot hurts the most?

Yes, tattoos hurt. Even someone fully covered in tattoos thinks they hurt. You earn each and every one. Every person is different, and the most painful spots for each person vary on a case-by-case basis. The most important thing is committing to your idea. Getting tattooed is just as much mental as physical.

In order to accommodate as many types of clients as possible, we also offer “ouch less” Lidocaine tattooing, to help take the edge off, for an increased rate of $200/hr. This includes a pre-application of lidocaine gel, as well as lidocaine glide used throughout the duration of your tattoo.

Do you offer piercings?

Nope.

How Long will my tattoo take to heal?

About 2-weeks. This can vary based on design, skin type, and mother nature. During this time you should avoid public water such as lakes, rivers, hot tubs, and pools. Also, keep it out of the sun, or covered, but avoid SPF products.


How DO I Book An Appointment?

Pick your artist here. Email them directly with a description of your idea, and attach any reference pictures you have collected. They’ll let you know their availability, and when you’re ready, email you a digital link to put down your deposit. Deposits are $175 and non-refundable, but apply to the final balance of your tattoo.

Do you tattoo minors?

Yes, but only in accordance with the state law of Michigan. The minimum age at our shop is sixteen. We require a parent to accompany the minor on tattoo day, as well as their birth certificate, and photo ID for both people.

How much will My tattoo cost?

All tattoos at our studio are charged hourly. Hourly rates vary from artist to artist. Choose an artist here and reach out directly to get an estimate on your next tattoo. Shop minimum is $175, and we have a $10 health and safety fee per session, so the least you’ll pay for any tattoo is $185. Subject to change.

Can I reschedule or cancel? Will I lose my deposit?

All deposits are 100% non-refundable, so make sure you’re committed to your tattoo. If you need to reschedule or cancel for any reason, make sure to give us at least 24-hour advance notice in order to retain your deposit. If you are more than 30 minutes late to your appointment, you will be considered a no-show and will forfeit your deposit.
